Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/2 Daytona, race number 39.
Deze auto werd bestuurd door Ignazio Giunti en Nanni Galli in de 24 uurs race op Le Mans in 1968 en won de Prototype 2000cc klasse. De ‘Daytona’ carrosserie op de Tipo 33/2 werd voor het eerst op 3 februari 1968 gebruikt tijdens de 24 uurs race op Daytona. Deze koets was de opvolger van de ‘Mugello’ carrosserie. De Daytona kende twee uitvoeringen: een lange en een korte versie. De panelen in het dak konden worden verwijderd, zodat de auto als spider en als coupe kon worden gebruikt. De Daytona’s waren veel betrouwbaarder dan de eerdere Mugello’s en Flérons. De motoren leverden 310 pk maar de coureurs werd op het hart gedrukt niet boven de 8300 toeren per minuut te gaan. Op Daytona werden de auto’s 5de, 6de en 7de en de jonge Mario Andretti reed voor het eerst voor Alfa Romeo. De motoren werden voor de Targa Florio op 5 mei 1968 geupgrade naar 2.5 liter. De korte versie werd gebruikt in deze race en zij eindigden op een 2de, 3de, 5de en 6de plaats. Een korte uitvoering van de Daytona won de race op Mugello en tijdens de 500 km race op Imola werden de auto’s 1ste, 2de en 3de. Op Le Mans werden de lange versies gebruikt. Zij eindigden als 4de, 5de en 6de.
